What is Happening at 6 Weeks Pregnant?

What happens in the 6th week of pregnancy? Eyes, ears and nose of your baby starts to form in the 6th week of pregnancy. If you could see your womb, you will see your baby's large head. Eyes, nostrils start to be formed.

The developing ears can be seen as two holes by two sides of his/her head, legs and arms are like mons. Hearth beats are between 80-150 per minute and this is about 2 times of your hearth beat. 

Blood flow starts in all body. Intestines develop and tissue sprouts to become the lungs startto form. Pituatary grand starts to develop as well as brain, muscles and bones. Your baby's height is as long as a quarter inch, that is as large as a lentil.

Hearth beat of the baby can be heard with colorful Doppler ultrasound in the 6th week of pregnancy. Also, vaginal ultrasound may be preferred if gestational sac can't be seen.

The period up to the 10th week of pregnancy is called embryo period. In this period the embryo is most vulnerable to the factors that will hinder embryo development.

In the 6th week of pregnancy your baby:

In the 6th week of pregnancy your baby's crown to rump length is 2-4 mm. It is called crown to rump, because generally the legs of the baby are curled. The jaw, cheeks, eyes, ears and nose of your baby which will become a lovely face soon, starts to develop. Also, their kidneys, lungs and liver develop.

In the 6th week of pregnancy your body:

hCG pregnancy hormone increases the blood flow to your pelvis area and your kidneys workfull capacity to remove the urine from your body, also your growing womb pushes your bladder, so we can say that you urinate in full.

You may start to feel yourself with double personality, you may be very sad one day and very happy the other day. Keep in mind that this emotional change is very normal in pregnancy. 

These emotional changes are partially due to the fluctuation in your hormone levels. However, your life also starts to change as well as your hormones.

One forth of the pregnant women could have spots (blood stains after urinating) or bleeding. These may happen in a normal pregnancy, but sometimes these bleedings maybe the first symptoms of a misscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. If you have spotting or bleeding you should consult your doctor.
