Pregnancy is time of great physical and emotional change for women. Everyone expects pregnancy to bring an expanding waistline. But many women are surprised by the other body changes that pop up. Everything from the size of her belly to the speed at which her heart beats will change over the nine months leading up to childbirth.
Partly the result of hormonal fluctuations and partly the physical strain of carrying extra body weight, pregnant women can expect to buy new bras, search for ways to alleviate swollen ankles, gasp for breath after climbing a few stairs, and marvel at how quickly their nails grow. 1. Hair Where? Can grow on face or neck. Waxing, tweezing and shaving are safe. Should go away 6 months after you give birth.
2. The Mask of Pregnancy: Dark patches on skin. Often appear on cheeks, forehead, nose, or upper lip. May fade after pregnancy.
3. Nosebleeds: A common pregnancy symtom. Gently squeeze nose between thumb and forefinger a few minutes. Call doctor if bleeding doesn't stop.
4. Nipple Changes: Darker skin on and around them. Small bumps (harmless glands).
5. Loose Teeth: This goes away after you give birth. Have bleeding gums? See your doctor.
6. Pregnancy Line "Linea Nigra": Faint dark streak down middle of belly. Goes from navel to pubic hair. May fade after delivery.
7. Skin Tags: Tiny, loose, flesh-colored growths.Not cancerous. Usually appear on arms, breasts.
