8 Common Discomforts of Pregnancy

Your body goes through a lot when you're pregnant and these changes can cause discomfort:

Morning sickness - one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy and usually goes away by the end of 1st trimester.

Backache - your ligaments become softer and stretch to prepare for labor thus causing strain on the joints in lower back and pelvis region.

Bladder and bowel problems - e.g. incontinence, constipation, hemorrhoids.

Skin changes - some women develop dark patches on their face or melasma (mask of pregnancy).

Cramps, swelling, and varicose veins - most common symptoms of pregnancy and require healthy lifestyle.

Headache and indigestion - primarily caused by hormonal fluctuations.

Vaginal discharge - occurs because cervix and vaginal walls get softer during pregnancy and discharge increases to prevent infections that enter vagina and travel to a womb.

Fatigue - like many other symptoms of pregnancy, this one is also primarily caused by hormones.
