Exercise During Pregnancy

Pregnancy used to be seen as a time when women needed to stop their exercise regimes. This was based on concerns about possible negative effects on the baby and mothers overexerting themselves. But now we know that regular and moderate exercise over the term of a normal pregnancy, is not only beneficial for mothers but for their babies as well.

Exercise does wonders during pregnancy: It boosts mood, improves sleep, and relieves aches and pains. It also prepares you for childbirth by strengthening muscles and building endurance. And staying active now makes it that much easier to get back in shape after your baby is born.

Always consult your healthcare provider before beginning any new exercise regimen. If you get the go-ahead to work out, listen to your body and be careful not to overdo it – stop if anything hurts or feels uncomfortable.
