How to Get into the Proper Position for Breastfeeding

Getting into the proper position for breastfeeding really depends on what you've got around you. If you happen to have a glider or a rocking chair, if you have a couch or an easy chair, or you have your bed, it really doesn't matter as long as the baby is right up at breast height, and you're comfortable and not hunching over.

You could be sitting on a bridge chair, it doesn't matter. You could be sitting on the floor on a mat; again, doesn't matter at all. Again, as long as you're comfortable and you don't endure any back pain afterward, or you feel like the baby is slipping anywhere; as long as you feel supported, then you're going to have a much more comfortable feed.

Eventually, everyone ends up on a park bench or in a restaurant or in weird places. I know there are many women who have been in the middle of a very busy restaurant and didn't feel like feeding in public, and decided that they were going to end up in a bathroom stall, and they are somehow supporting baby on one knee with their leg on the toilet.

There are many, many different ways of doing it, as long as you are comfortable and the baby is able to latch on, it really doesn't matter where you are. You just have to find that comfort level.
