This guide will help you get an accurate measurement in the privacy of your own home. So you end up with a perfect fitting maternity or nursing bra. A bra measurement is made up of two measurements. Band measurement, under the breasts and cup measurement.
Please remember: this is only a guide, every bra fits differently, so we recommend getting a fitting from one of our bra fitting advisors in store. First. Let's show you how to get a band measurement.
Place the tape measure directly under your breasts. Use a mirror to check that it's straight and measure all the way around your body. Ensure the tape measure is pulled in firmly to get an accurate measurement.
Once you have the measurement in inches add 4 to it - if it's even or 5 if it's odd. This will give you the correct band measurement. Now let's do the cup size measurement. Place the tape measure around the fullest part of your bust, normally across the nipple.
Use a mirror to check this is straight and all the way around your body. Ensure that the tape measure isn't pressing into the breast at any point. Take a note of the measurement in inches and then work out the difference between the bust measurement and the band measurement.
This is usually anywhere between 0-7 inches. As a guide if the difference is one inch you're a b cup. Two inches, you're a c cup. Three inches, you're a D cup and so on.
You can use this chart to determine your cup size based on the difference between your two measurements. You can check you are wearing the correct fitted bra with our quick and simple three point test.
1 - The bra band should run horizontally right around the body.
2 - You should be able to slide two fingers under the band, neck edge, underarm straps and cup.
3 - The centre front of the bra should sit back as far as possible, you should be fitted as soon as your current bra starts to feel uncomfortable.
