How Much Weight Should I Gain During Pregnancy?

That's the big question that lots of women ask and well there's a lot of debate in the UK. Here's not any specific weight gain that  is specified, as every woman is different. And when you book with us we will initially take your height and your weight and we go by BMI. And so the healthy BMI that stated in the UK real, we say is between 18 to 25, between 25 to 30 is declared overweight and then anything above 30 is obese and anything above 35 is what we call clinically or morbidly obese. 

And so some women can think on average can gain between 10 to 12,5 kilos. But what we really want to tell women is to mystify the assumption that you are eating for two which is incorrect. And you should actually not need to take in any additional calorie intake above what your normal dietary requirement until the third trimester, which is after when baby is predominantly just putting on weight especially after 37 weeks. 

And even then the calorie equivalent is about 2:1 banana so if you are concerned about your weight prior to getting pregnant there are obviously. Associations that you can go you can obviously go to NHS Choices where their advice on healthy diet or changing certain foods obviously slimming world is in if it is connected with the RCM. And they have a program in place if your hope your midwife is happy, should you need to lose any weight or if you want to keep an eye on your weight during pregnancy.
