Is a little drinking during pregnancy okay? The truth is the only safe level of drinking during pregnancy is not drinking at all. No safe level of maternal alcohol intake has been established.
That being said, current studies show that moderate drinking has little to no effect on having a baby born with alcohol-related birth defects. Moderate drinking would be two mixed drinks a day or two glasses of wine a day or two beers a day.
The baby does receive alcohol through the placenta so once you know you're pregnant it's best to stop drinking alcohol completely. It's pretty typical for woman to develop an aversion to alcohol and oftentimes caffeine. So listen to your body and make the right choices for you.
