After baby's born it's an incredible time for healing and rest for your own body. And so I encourage you to continue your prenatal supplement to ensure that you're getting all of the nutrients that your body requires to take care of your new baby.
Following labor and delivery it's really important that you give your body time and nutrients to heal from your experiences. So I encourage you to build a whole foods, colorful approach when you go home with your new infant so that you can replenish your own body stores, and reduce any inflammation following the delivery of your baby.
And a way that you can do that is to aim for really good fats in your diet and so I encourage you to continue to consume about 12 ounces of fatty fish a week, like salmon, or tuna, or Cod. And then also you can build in these anti-inflammatory - or these Omega-3 fats through flaxseed, nuts, and then also, just try to expand upon the colorfulness of your diet.
There are incredible nutrients in all of the various colors of plants, and so there's a lot of research on is something called phyto or plant nutrients. The more colorful your diet, the less inflammation, the better your healing. And the two colors I really encourage new mothers strive for are dark, leafy greens, and dark purple or blue fruits and vegetables.
So if there's creative ways to sauteed kale or spinach, broccoli, into some of the dishes that you're consuming, otherwise you can also try to build in blueberries and blackberries, and try to put in those really anti-inflammatory superfoods you feel.
