Premature Birth

Every year, about 450,000 babies are born too soon in the United States, according to the March of Dimes. That’s one in nine babies. The cause of premature birth is often unknown, but there are some steps mothers can take to reduce the risk their baby will be born too early.

Babies born before 37th week are named premature. Premature babies' birth weight is much lower than babies born on time and they may face problems as their organs haven't completed their development.

Premature babies are under risk, as they are small and their organs haven't completed their development yet. They have problems in stabilizing their birth weight. Blood sugar, calcium and magnesium levels may also be unstable, so they are supported via vascular access.

Birth before expected date may be experienced by all women as well as women with miscarriage risk, thus it is beneficial to learn about the premature birth.
