Jolene Broad, 37 seen with her triplets Kathleen, Delila and Tabitha, of whom Tabitha was conceived two weeks after her sisters, on April 18, 2017 in Canterbury, England. These are the first triplets in the world - to be conceived nearly two weeks apart.
Jolene Broad and her husband Toby were stunned when medics told them that Mrs Broad had fallen pregnant twice in one month thanks to an incredibly rare phenomenon.
At a scan medics discovered that she had fallen pregnant with one embryo that had split into two, and then fallen pregnant again over a week later with another baby. The process is called superfoetation, which means that a foetus begins to form in the womb when another is already growing.
In this medical event, known as 'supperfection', it is possible to get pregnant again in pregnancies between two weeks and a month. This phenomenon, which is very rare in humans, has only happened 6 times in the last 100 years.
Simon Fishel, Professor of Gynecology, said, "This should not happen, but it is happening." The first case came to the scene in 1865. From time to time, this type of occurence was encountered. Many many women think that if they get pregnant they will never get pregnant again.
Prof. Fishel said that the anatomical structure of the women prevented them from making another sputum while pregnant. But rarely, pregnancy occurs while pregnant. Pregnancy in pregnancy is an extraordinary situation but it does not always end with a happy ending.
