What Can I Do to Protect My Unborn Baby?

Lots of things you can do to try and improve the pregnancy and to improve the health of your baby in the pregnancy. These would be things like stopping smoking or reducing and not to smoke as much as possible.

Stay away from passive smokers, not drinking any alcohol or taking unlisted drugs, drugs that were not prescribed to you during the pregnancy and obviously always come into your antenatal care and point any concerns to your doctor your midwife so they can check.

It's important to eat healthily in pregnancy. The baby will take all the nutrients he needs, but this can leave you lacking, especially in iron. Your GP can provide iron tablets if you're anaemic.
