What happens in the 7th week of pregnancy?Technically, your baby is still an embryo in the 7th week of pregnancy and it has a small tail which looks like an extension of the backbone. This tail disappears in 5 weeks and that is the only thing getting smaller in your womb.
If you were able to look inside your womb, you would be able to see the eyelid holes covering its tiny eyes (colors are defined by now), the tip of its nose and the tiny veins under its skin as thin as paper.
In the 7th week of pregnancy your baby:
Your baby is now about the size of a blackberry (about 4-5 mm of height) The brain reproduces 100 cells per minute so the growth takes place mainly in the brain.
In this week leg sprouts spring like short fins. Arm sprouts are grown, hand and arm-shoulder part are separated. There are sprouts in hands and feet, these will become fingers and toes.
Right and left cardiac valves are seperated as of this week. First bronchus are formed in lungs. Cerebral hemispheres develop as well. Eyes and nose holes develop. Intestines develop and appendix is also ready. Also pancreas producing insulin hormone is also developed. A part of the intestines grow towards to the navel cord.
In the 7th week of pregnancy your body:
In the 7th week, your belly may not look like you are pregnant. In the first pregnancy it takes more time for your belly to grow bigger. Morning sickness may still be there in this week.
Your baby may be as small as blackberry but your breasts look more like melon. The breasts of some pregnant mothers may be full bra size and it is good news that breasts are not too sensitive to cause pain.
