Why is My Baby Breastfeeding All the Time?

Have your evenings been hijacked by non-stop nursing sessions? That's the common breastfeeding phenomenon known as cluster feeding. Newborns nurse about 8 to 12 times a day. And they often cluster those feedings in the evening.

This is normal and not a sign that you're not producing enough milk. Or that you're spoiling her. Infants can also cluster feed during the day when they need comfort. If your babe seems extra ravenous she could be going through a growth spurt.

So how do you survive those marathon breastfeeding sessions?

Try wearing your baby in a sling or carrier so you can multi-task. Since you're now a human pacifier, you'll need nipple cream to soothe your angry boobs. It's ok to let things slide around the house and just hang out on the couch. Make sure to keep water, a phone charger, snacks and netflix nearby. And remember, like all baby phases, this too shall pass.
