Nappy rash is very common and can happen at any age, when your baby or child is in nappies. There are certain things you can do to help prevent it and also to help if your baby suffers from it.
One of the most important things is hygiene, making sure you change your babies nappy - lots of occasions it's really important. And you keep baby's bottom as clean as possible, use lots of water and cotton wool. Don't use too many perfumed items or baby wipes at this stage.
The other thing is to apply a really good barrier cream, you might want to ask your friends to see if there is a cream that they have used that's been really good, that they found worked for them.
The other thing is to allow your baby to have lots of fresh air, without their nappy on, that can really help. If the nappy rash continues, you may need to think about whether your baby might have thrush and you may want to get this checked out with your GP or your health visitor.
The other thing is, as well, with regards to using real nappies , you may want to check out the detergent you are using. Maybe use something a little bit gentler. if you find your baby has nappy rash. Just to see if it works.
