We've all watched that scene in any given movie where the mother is sweaty and screaming while pushing 3-4 times to deliver her baby, but what is that experience really like?
How do you actually push at the end of your labor and get the baby out? This video covers that topic and so much more! Did you know there are actually positions that can help you get the baby out faster so you're not pushing for hours and hours?
Certain positions will help to open your pelvic outlet, so that the baby can rotate, come down and ultimately come out! On average first time mothers will push between 1-3hrs when delivering their first baby!
Since I started implementing these positions as a labor and delivery nurse I have not had a mother push longer than about an hour! I've seen more vaginal deliveries and less situations where the mother pushes for hours and then either has to have a vacuumed delivery or go for a c-section.
My goal is to give you mamas every opportunity to have the easiest and most enjoyable labor and delivery experience and I would hate after all the effort to get you to the point of pushing for the finale to end with you physically and mentally exhausted headed for a c-section.
I want to equipped you to be proactive and empowered in your labor and delivery process! Go forth and push your baby into this world with confidence, less tearing, less operative deliveries and an easier recovery!
