This 20-minute Postnatal yoga video exercise class is suitable for all new mums, including women who gave birth by c-section. The morning sickness, achy lower back, and fatigue of pregnancy have passed but along with the bliss of loving your little creation come some challenges, both physical and emotional. Having a baby is probably the most amazing and transforming time of a woman’s life but can take a toll on both mother and child.
Post natal yoga is designed to help you to get back in shape physically, and support you emotionally through this wonderful time. Mums aren't the only ones who can benefit from yoga; a few basic moves for the wee one can make your infant more comfortable and calm. Yoga postures induce deep relaxation in adults, in babies they bring a state of contentment and promote deep sleep.
Along with growing and birthing a baby comes weakened and stretched abdomen muscles. Post natal yoga concentrates on strengthening the abdominal muscles which were overstretched during pregnancy, including gentle twists which help shrink the uterus. It uses specific exercises designed to get your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles back in shape again.
Relaxation poses are added to lessen fatigue and aid in the recovery from child birth. If your baby (aged 6 weeks to 8 months) is awake he/she can join in using him or her as a weight! If baby’s asleep you get to enjoy the full class without worrying about childcare! We take a relaxed approach, so during the class you’re always welcome to take time out to feed or to play with your baby.
