How to Establish Good Baby Sleep Habits? (3 to 9 Months)

Your baby sleeps 14 to 15 hours a day. Many babies begin to sleep through the night (8 to 12 hours). Hooray! Most babies are ready for sleep training. Babies at this age take 2 to 3 daytime naps. Tips to help your baby sleep:

Tip #1: Sleep schedule

• Plan naps for specific times every day.

• Choose a bedtime and stick to it.

• Energetic or fussy behavior can be a sign of sleepiness. If your baby gets fussy, try an earlier bedtime.

Tip #2: Bedtime routine

• A predictable bedtime routine relaxes and soothes your baby to sleep.

• Give your baby a bath, put on pj's, read a story, sing a lullaby.

• Do your routine in the same order every night.

Tip #3: Solo sleep

Encourage your baby to fall asleep on her own. Put your baby down when drowsy but still awake. When your baby wakes up, give her a few minutes to settle back to sleep.

Tip #4: Wake-up call!

Wake your baby at the same time every morning.

Tip #5: Be flexible
