A hospital foyer has become a delivery room after a Melbourne couple failed to make it much further past the front door.
Mum Julie Anne Longano started having contractions, which rapidly escalated and it became clear baby Anderson Casson couldn’t wait to come into the world.
Longano: “A minute apart, which you know from the movies you should be in the hospital.”. She struggled to get to the car and was on her hands and knees at times. “My eyes were bulging out of my head and I remember thinking, I’ve stuffed this up,” she said.
The couple made a desperate dash to the Epworth Freemasons Hospital, but could barely make it past the front door.
Obstetrician Grant Saffer said it was the end of visiting hours and people were coming and going while Longano gave birth.
“There’s nothing you can do. You’ve just got to have the baby then and there,” he said. The hospital CCTV caught the moment Anderson came into the world.
