From about six months of age babies start to pick up something with one hand and transfer it over to the other, so try and offer them toys that they can do this with, because it helps improve their co-ordination.

If you ever find your baby is not responding to you, you will give them the best chance of survival if you know what to do. If you have found your baby unresponsive and not breathing normally, you'll need to perform baby CPR.

Severe bleeding can lead to shock, so make sure they are lying down on a blanket or rug to protect them from the cold and raise their legs, but don't raise an injured leg. You could hold a small baby in the recovery position.

If you think your baby is drowned, before starting CPR, move them away from the water and lie them on their backs, ideally on a raised surface such as a table.

Your baby may have a severe allergic reaction to some foods, such as nuts, or animal hair or even to some medicines. If your baby is having a severe allergic reaction you might see some of these signs.
